A Brief Overview
Here's my journey thus far.
I have completed an intensive course in Principles of Vine Growing at Plumpton College (See notes Part I, Part II, Part III, and Part IV) and have completed the followings courses online:
- Introduction to Biodynamic Viticulture by Biodynamic Agriculture College
- World of Wine: From Grape to Glass by University of Adelaide on edX
- Guyot Vine Pruner Foundation & Advanced by Simonit & Sirch on Vine Master Pruner Academy
As a firm believer in biodynamic wines, I studied Agricultural Course by Rudolf Steiner and wrote a summary for each of the eight lectures. I had to indulge my curiosity by learning more about BD 500.
I did a study on the Burgundy region in preparation for my first harvest. And specifically for Montalcino, I summarised my findings about the origin & characteristics of Sangiovese.
I did a deep dive into the relationship between water deficit and grape quality, given that irrigation is not an option in the region.
I have read the following books so far:
- Grapes (2nd Edition) by Creasy & Creasy
- Understanding Vineyard Soils (2nd Edition) by White
- The Science of Grapevines (3rd Edition) by Keller
- The Science of Wine: From Vine to Glass (3rd Edition) by Goode
I'm currently reading:
- Biodynamic Winegrowing: Understanding the Vine and its Rhythm by Florin
And I'm super excited to learn more!
